Hannah Finney was enjoying a day at the park in Little Melton with her two kids when her phone suddenly alerted her to a concerning situation back at her home on School Lane.
The footage from her home security system showed a man in dark clothing peering into windows and lurking around the door. “It appeared that he entered the house because the camera didn’t show him leaving at any point,” Hannah said.
Feeling panicked, Hannah rushed back home with her children, leaving them on the driveway while she checked inside. “I should have called the police straight away, but mother instinct kicked in,” she explained.
Although the man was not found inside, Hannah was left shaken by the experience. The next day, while she was out, she received another notification that the man had returned to explore her home further.
Despite the police confirming the man’s suspicious behavior outside the property, there were no signs of him entering the house or taking anything from the garden. “I barely slept for the next three or four days,” Hannah admitted.
With her husband often away for work, Hannah felt vulnerable and decided to invest over £600 in additional security equipment. “It’s a shame that we have to spend so much money just to feel safe in our own home,” she said.
Her children, aged three years and 18 months, were fortunately unharmed during the unsettling incidents in Little Melton.
