Owners of a popular security camera were left in disbelief after receiving images from inside other people’s homes instead of their own. According to the Seattle-based firm, a small number of Wyze customers were affected by this embarrassing glitch. One shocked user took to Reddit to express their surprise, stating, “Went to check on my cameras and they are all gone be replaced with a new one…and this isn’t mine! Apologies if this is your house/dog…..I don’t want it showing up as much as you don’t want it!” Another user claimed that their camera opened to a view of a naked couple in their home, leaving them scared to open it again. Some customers even noticed that they were able to see into the same homes, causing further concern. Wyze attributed the issue to a “web caching issue” that lasted for approximately 30 minutes on Friday. The company promptly shut down the affected web viewer and assured customers that the problem did not affect the Wyze app or users who did not log in during that time period. Wyze is currently investigating the issue and working to prevent it from happening again. They are also trying to identify the affected users. A spokesperson for Wyze estimated that around ten users’ feeds may have been exposed.
