Owners of a popular security camera were left in disbelief after receiving images from inside other people’s homes instead of their own. One user even claimed to have seen a couple in the nude. The embarrassing mishap affected a small number of customers of the Seattle-based company, Wyze. Shocked users took to Reddit to express their surprise and apologize if they inadvertently invaded someone else’s privacy. Some customers also reported being able to see into the same homes, causing further concern. Wyze attributed the issue to a web caching problem that lasted approximately 30 minutes on Friday. The company assured customers that the problem did not affect the Wyze app or users who did not log in to view.wyze.com during that time period. They promptly shut down the website for an hour to investigate and resolve the issue. Wyze emphasized that this incident does not reflect their commitment to user security and that they are actively working to prevent similar incidents in the future. They are also working to identify the affected users. According to a spokesperson, approximately ten users’ feeds may have been exposed.
