A sneaky burglar, Damon Keegan, used some fancy spy gear to swipe people’s fancy cars. Keegan, 33, was caught with a radio frequency jamming device, a nifty tool that can block phone and Wi-Fi signals.
During his year-long crime spree, Keegan pinched nearly £350,000 worth of high-end vehicles. He had a knack for slipping into homes and swiping keys, leaving his victims feeling pretty shaken up.
In one instance, in Knutsford, Keegan had to bolt when an alarm went off, leaving behind his trusty jamming device. A DNA match later linked it back to him.
In Lymm, he snagged a BMW X5 by disabling the Wi-Fi and sneaking into the house for the keys. Police later found a stash of burglary tools near his place, including lock picks and spy gear.
Keegan’s thefts spanned across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and Derbyshire. He was recently sentenced to 6 years and 11 months for his crimes.
Detective Constable Holden from the Serious Organised Crime Group said, “Keegan was a busy burglar with a long rap sheet, who managed to swipe over £300,000 worth of luxury cars in just a year. His methods were invasive and destructive, causing financial and emotional turmoil for his victims. We worked hard to connect the dots and ensure he faced the music for all his crimes. Hopefully, this serves as a warning that we’ll stop at nothing to catch criminals like Keegan.”
