A security scare at a Co Down caravan park has come to an end with no cause for concern found. The incident took place at Seaview Caravan Park in Millisle, which was temporarily closed to the public. Police were alerted to a possible device hidden under stones in a nearby field, prompting some residents to evacuate their homes.
In an update on Saturday afternoon, the PSNI confirmed that the alert had concluded and expressed gratitude for the public’s patience during the investigation. A police spokesperson stated, “A thorough search of the area has been conducted and, thankfully, nothing suspicious was discovered. We appreciate the inconvenience caused and want to assure the public that their safety is our top priority.”
Those affected by the incident, including Candice Bunting and Shelley Ritchie, shared their experience of being turned away from the caravan park by police. They described feeling cold and wet, with limited belongings due to arriving after a relative had left their essentials in the caravan.
Seaview Caravan Park also took to social media to inform visitors of the closure, reassuring them that the site would reopen once the situation was resolved. The park’s management urged patience and promised to provide updates as soon as possible.
