Jewelry Store Previously Targeted by Robbers in £500,000 Heist
The high-end jewelry store, 247 Kettles, was recently raided just a day before a tragic incident involving a watch dealer found dead at home. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time the store has been targeted by robbers. Back in September 2021, the firm’s former headquarters in Egham, Surrey, was looted in a daring heist.
During the previous robbery, a gang of four thieves managed to steal a significant amount of jewelry and watches by loading a 750kg safe into a Ford Focus. The robbers went to great lengths to break into the store, cutting through fences and smashing glass doors with sledgehammers and crowbars.
The company’s co-founder, Conor Thornton, expressed shock at the time, stating that they had invested in a heavy safe to protect their stock. However, the thieves still managed to break in and steal valuable items. Following the incident, 247 Kettles relocated to a new base in Richmond.
Tragically, after the recent robbery at the store in Richmond where watches were stolen, one of the employees, Oliver White, was found dead the next day. His girlfriend, Alana Dredge, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, expressing her deep love for him and the pain of losing him.
Surrey Police confirmed the death of Mr. White but stated that it was not considered suspicious. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding his passing. The Metropolitan Police is also looking into the robbery incident at the store.
The recent string of luxury watch muggings in London has raised concerns among residents and business owners. The rise in thefts has led to a decline in demand for high-end timepieces, with many individuals feeling unsafe flaunting their valuable possessions.
As investigations continue into these incidents, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The community is shocked by these events, especially in areas like Richmond, where such crimes are uncommon. The safety and security of residents and businesses remain a top priority as law enforcement works to address these challenges.
