Prince Harry’s security level while visiting the UK has been a hot topic lately. The High Court has now made a decision on whether or not he should have his security reinstated. High Court judge Sir Peter Lane issued the ruling on Wednesday morning, ruling against Prince Harry.
The Duke of Sussex was not happy when he found out he no longer qualified for protection after moving to America with his wife Meghan Markle in 2020. This led to a legal battle, with the Duke winning the right to partially challenge the decision in July 2022. However, the judge ultimately found that the decision made by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) was justified.
After the ruling, King Charles was seen leaving his London home, and Prince Harry’s spokesperson announced that he will be appealing the High Court decision. Harry’s legal team argued that he should receive state security in light of the threats he faces, while the Government maintained that his protection should be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The Home Office expressed their satisfaction with the court’s decision, stating that they are carefully considering their next steps. Prince Harry has previously spoken about the issue of his security being removed, especially during his interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2020. Despite facing legal troubles in the US as well, Harry has received support from friends like actor Tyler Perry during these challenging times.
