Prince Harry’s security level while visiting the UK has been a hot topic lately. The High Court has now made a decision on whether or not he should be stripped of his security detail. High Court judge Sir Peter Lane issued the ruling on Wednesday morning, ruling against Prince Harry.
The Duke of Sussex was not happy when he found out he no longer qualified for protection after moving to America with his wife Meghan Markle in 2020. The decision was made by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), governed by the Home Office. Despite some court appearances and a partial challenge win in July 2022, the judge ultimately found that the decision made in February 2020 was justified.
After the ruling, King Charles was seen leaving his London home, just minutes after Prince Harry lost his legal battle over his security in the UK. Harry’s spokesperson announced that he will be appealing the High Court decision. His legal team believes he should receive fair treatment under Ravec’s rules.
The Home Office expressed their satisfaction with the court’s ruling against Prince Harry, stating that their protective security system is rigorous and proportionate. Meanwhile, Harry has spoken out about the security issue before, especially during his tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2020.
Despite facing legal troubles in the US as well, Harry has received support from friends like actor Tyler Perry. Former US President Donald Trump even threatened to deport Harry back to the UK if he were re-elected in 2024. It seems like Prince Harry’s security woes are far from over.
