A security scare at the Henry Jones playing fields in east Belfast has come to an end, with police confirming that no suspicious items were found after a thorough search of the area.
The PSNI received a report that claimed several devices had been left near the playing fields on Church Road, prompting a response from authorities around 10:25 BST.
As a precaution, two nearby roads were closed and buildings, including a nursery and a school hosting a summer program, were evacuated. Inspector McCrum of the PSNI expressed gratitude for the public’s patience and cooperation during the searches.
“We understand this situation has been inconvenient, especially for the children and their parents, but safety is our top priority,” said Insp. McCrum.
Police are continuing their investigation and urge anyone with information to come forward.
