A security scare at the Henry Jones playing fields in east Belfast has come to a close, with police confirming that no suspicious items were found after a thorough search of the area.
The PSNI responded to a report received at 10:25 BST, indicating that devices may have been left near the Church Road playing fields. As a precaution, two nearby roads were closed and nearby premises, including a nursery and a school hosting a summer program, were evacuated.
Insp McCrum of the PSNI expressed gratitude for the public’s patience and cooperation during the searches, acknowledging the inconvenience caused to children and parents. “Public safety is our top priority,” McCrum emphasized.
Police continue to investigate the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.
