Peterborough Police Apprehend Notorious Burglar Caught on Home Security CamerasPolice have released security camera footage of a burglar who hit nine houses in one night, and it’s quite the show! Sean Maher, 38, was caught on camera stumbling over a wheelbarrow, cruising on a stolen mountain bike, and attempting to break into multiple homes in Bretton, Peterborough in August 2023.

After pleading guilty to his crimes, Maher, of Welford Place, Wittering, was sentenced to three years behind bars for his spree of seven attempted burglaries, two successful burglaries, and one case of vehicle interference.

Detective Sergeant Rich Ellison from Cambridgeshire Police described Maher as a “prolific offender” with a laundry list of 24 previous convictions for similar crimes dating back to 1999. Ellison added, “He went house-to-house through Bretton one night trying to burgle people’s homes and, unfortunately, was successful in two of his attempts.”
