A heartwarming incident took place on Victoria Street in London on Saturday night, as captured in a video shared on social media. The footage shows a security guard diligently mopping the floor near a homeless man who was sitting there.
The homeless man can be seen trying to protect his sleeping bag and duvet from the water seeping underneath. Frustrated, he pleads, “leave me alone,” as his belongings are kicked out of the way.
Adding to the distressing situation, another security guard attempts to prevent someone from filming the incident. Bystanders express their outrage, describing the scene as “outrageous” and “bang out of order”.
Interestingly, the homeless man had been sitting outside a Nationwide bank branch, right next to the McDonald’s where the security guards were stationed.
After witnessing the incident, Damon Evans shares the video on X, tagging McDonald’s and questioning whether it is acceptable for their staff to soak the sleeping bags of homeless people, especially during winter. He condemns the behavior as “disgusting,” emphasizing that the man wasn’t even outside their premises.
McDonald’s UK promptly responds to the footage, clarifying that the responsible individual is not one of their employees but a third-party security guard. They express gratitude for bringing the incident to their attention and request more information to urgently address the matter with the security guard’s employer.
