Provincial police are currently looking into a peculiar incident caught on a home security video in Collingwood. The footage shows a man peering through the windows of a residence on Dawson Drive.
According to authorities, the man spent a considerable amount of time outside the house on the evening of July 12, around 11 p.m. He was seen looking into windows and even wandering behind the property before eventually leaving the area.
The suspect is described as a middle-aged man, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old. He has a heavier build, a goatee, and short dark hair.
During the incident, he was wearing a light-colored long-sleeved shirt, a baseball cap, and dark-colored pants.
Police would like to remind residents to always keep their windows and doors securely locked. Additionally, any suspicious individuals or activity should be reported immediately to the authorities.
As a precautionary measure, they also recommend installing motion sensor lights and security cameras, as well as keeping exterior lights on.
“LED technology has significantly reduced power consumption, and based on personal experience, it goes a long way in deterring crime,” stated the OPP.
The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Collingwood OPP at 705-445-4321. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
