A security scare in Omagh, County Tyrone, turned out to be a false alarm, much to the relief of residents who were temporarily evacuated from their homes. The incident began on Monday evening when reports came in about a suspicious object in the area. However, after a thorough search and additional police inquiries, it was determined that the information provided was false. The PSNI district commander, Robert McGown, described the incident as a deliberate hoax intended to cause disruption and distress. Thankfully, the police cordons have been lifted and residents are now able to return home. Supt McGowan urged those responsible to consider the impact of their actions on the community. SDLP MLA Daniel McCrossan expressed his sympathy for the affected families, emphasizing that they did not need any further disruptions in their lives.
