In a rather unusual turn of events, a Conservative MP has reportedly been caught removing a security camera from a property he rents out to a single mother who he is currently trying to evict.
Gary Streeter, 68, a long-standing member of parliament representing South West Devon since 1992, has been embroiled in a dispute with Layla Williams, the tenant of a bungalow on his farm.
Williams, 38, initially moved into the property in 2018 to take care of Streeter’s horses and house-sit for him. However, she has not paid rent since January and Streeter has been attempting to evict her. Williams has expressed her fear and discomfort regarding Streeter’s actions ever since he asked her and her 12-year-old son to vacate the premises.
“It has become very unsettling,” she said. “I’ve caught him on CCTV ripping my camera off the wall, trying to invade our privacy.
