A British teen with short hair has shared her shocking experience at an Egyptian airport where security guards forced her to undergo a ‘traumatic’ sex check because they doubted her gender.
Caitlyn Disley, 15, was traveling with her girlfriend Olivia’s family when she was subjected to an invasive inspection at Hurghada International Airport. The guards demanded she lift her bra to prove she was female, leaving Caitlyn feeling embarrassed and traumatized.
Her father, Tom Disley, expressed his outrage at the incident and emphasized the need to raise awareness so others don’t face similar situations in Egypt. The family has taken their case to MP Lisa Nandy, who plans to discuss it with the relevant government minister.
While the Foreign Office declined to comment on individual cases involving children, they reiterated their support for British nationals overseas. The Disley family hopes their story will prevent others, especially children, from enduring such humiliating experiences.
