A new upgrade for smart home cameras is here to scare off burglars using artificial intelligence. The latest update allows the cameras to automatically detect intruders and sound an 80-decibel siren.
The Philips Hue Secure cameras now have the ability to differentiate between a person, animal, vehicle, or package, and can trigger the alarm accordingly. This feature is available for Secure plan members, costing $39.99 or £34.99 a year for a single camera.
The Basic Secure plan includes additional benefits such as back-to-back video clip recording, activity zones, and a 30-day video history. For those looking for more coverage, the Plus Secure plan offers coverage for all cameras and 60 days of video recording at a higher price.
To check if you have the new update, look for version 5.22 on your devices. You can easily arm the alarm with a single tap on the Secure tile in your app’s Home panel.
While the update is not a fool-proof defense against intruders, it can help scare them away or alert you to any motion detected. Smartphone notifications will still be sent for regular motion alerts, and you can view the footage to see what triggered the siren.
The update is available for both iOS and Android devices, so make sure to download it now to enhance your home security system.
