Holly Willoughby’s Instagram inbox was flooded, but one message stood out to Gavin Plumb. “I wanted to see if you are aware that there is some very real looking images of you online?” he wrote. Little did Holly know, Plumb had sinister intentions.
A forensic search of Plumb’s flat in Essex revealed a handwritten note listing 136 female celebrities, with Holly Willoughby at the top. Among his possessions was a document titled Wishes, with Ms. Willoughby as the ultimate desire.
Plumb’s dark fantasies were uncovered when an undercover police officer engaged him in conversation on a chat app. Plumb detailed his abduction plot, including sharing a video of a “kidnap kit” he had assembled.
Despite his claims that he was “too overweight” to carry out his plan, Plumb was found guilty of soliciting murder, inciting kidnap, and inciting rape. His disturbing history of previous offenses confirmed his dangerous nature.
Plumb wept in court as the jury delivered their verdict. Det Ch Insp Wood described him as an “obsessive loner” who posed a “significant threat.” Plumb will be sentenced on July 12.
