A security guard accused of plotting to kidnap Holly Willoughby has gone to great lengths to convince others it wasn’t just a fantasy, a court heard today.
Gavin Plumb, 37, allegedly planned to snatch the TV presenter from her home, commit heinous acts, and then dispose of her body. Despite claiming it was all make-believe and citing his weight as a hindrance, prosecutor Alison Morgan KC argued that his intentions were very real.
The court learned that Plumb had a history of similar offenses in the past, and his conversations with an undercover officer revealed a disturbing level of commitment to the plan. Referring to the moment he realized someone was willing to join him in the plot, Morgan emphasized his words: “S*** it’s really happening.”
Describing Plumb as a prolific liar, Morgan warned the jury not to underestimate him. She highlighted the defendant’s detailed planning, including discussions about taking time off work to carry out the attack, as evidence of his intent.
Plumb denies the charges against him, but the trial continues. The alleged plan involved taking Willoughby to a secluded location for unspeakable acts before ending her life.
