Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is not taking any chances when it comes to protecting his family home after his swanky York & Albany Hotel was invaded by squatters last month. Ramsay, 57, has hired a professional security firm to guard his London mansion, with guards and dogs patrolling the property 24/7.
An insider revealed, “The only thing more important to Gordon than his business empire is his family, so he’s not sparing any expense to keep them safe. Seeing the occupation of one of his premises spooked him, and he realized the same fate could befall his family home if he didn’t take extreme precautions.”
The York & Albany in Camden, North London, was targeted by six “professional squatters” in April, who barricaded themselves inside and trashed the interior. Despite a long and costly legal battle, lawyers for Gordon Ramsay Holdings International Limited eventually secured a High Court order for possession of the premises.
Now, with his family temporarily moved out for renovations, Ramsay is ensuring that his London home remains secure. The security measures put in place will continue even after the refurbishment is completed. And with his wife Tana having given birth to their sixth child just six months ago, Ramsay is not taking any chances when it comes to protecting his loved ones.
The squatters, who called themselves the Anarchist Association London Branch, eventually left by the end of April after attacking Ramsay and branding him a “foul-mouthed chef.” A spokeswoman for Ramsay declined to comment on the situation.
