SimpliSafe offers a variety of preconfigured packages that can be fully customized to meet your needs. The Tower, designed for the average three-bedroom semi-detached property, comes with internal and external cameras, a motion detector, door and window sensors, and an integrated keypad. While The Tower is on the pricier side, SimpliSafe often offers steep discounts, making packages like this more affordable.
Users of SimpliSafe can opt for self-monitoring or professional monitoring, with two flexible plans starting at 53p per day.
Setting it up
We found the peel-and-stick sensors easy to install without any drilling required, along with clear connectivity instructions. The system was simple to set up using the dedicated app.
The hardware is stylish and sleek, available in obsidian or white, with a contemporary pear-shaped base station that glows with a steady blue light and pulses if there is a system error.
System app
The SimpliSafe app allows you to control your security system remotely through user-friendly smartphone or tablet interfaces. You can arm or disarm the system, view live camera feeds, and receive instant notifications in case of a security event. The system uses end-to-end encryption to protect data for security and privacy.
All SimpliSafe packages are compatible with smart home ecosystems like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing control through voice commands.
While the indoor camera does not have pan or zoom capabilities, its 120-degree lens covers a wide area with clear picture quality, sound, and night vision. The motion detection uses heat signatures to differentiate between pets, people, and objects, reducing false alarms.
With a monthly subscription plan, you can benefit from 24/7 professional monitoring. In case of security concerns, the monitoring center can be notified and emergency services dispatched with the advanced monitoring package.
Our opinion
While SimpliSafe’s The Tower package offers great home security, the initial cost may be a barrier for some homeowners. However, considering the quality, features, and flexibility of the monitoring plans, we believe it is a worthwhile long-term investment.
Alternatively, the Essentials package from SimpliSafe provides a smaller, more affordable option that can be used as is or expanded and personalized to suit your home and needs.
